Doncaster has to do all the running around for transfers, making calls, negotiating transfer fees and contracts etc.

Basically the manager says who he wants, what he reckons he's worth and then the Donc does the rest. I guess he'd go back to the manager if a club said "we want X amount" to see if the manager thinks he's worth it.

Obviously the manager would meet the player, explain to him about why he wants him, why he should sign etc. And of course a manager would use any contacts they have as well.
