Back then we had only 3 (or later 4) TV channels and there was bugger all else on the other side except perhaps a gardening documentary on BBC2 and skiing or wrestling on the other channel.

We watched it out of boredom or curiosity, and for many of us got caught up in the passion.

Now you have 300 channels and the internet.

Even I find myself on Saturdays listening to Norwich on the web, while constantly channel-hopping between the 6 live Prem games being broadcast at the same time.
