One time he goes to the races the day he gets paid; but he's clever, he's only going to bet 50p/quid on each race and he's reserved a fiver plus any winnings for his "nap" (dead cert) in one of the later races. After a few wins he's built up a decent stake to add to the fiver. But, he's also had a few pints, so he puts his pay packet on the nag and it trots in nowhere ...
