... It's that perverse hint of slightly warped attractiveness which keeps us coming back for more, only to be hurt again and again. Which kind of gives the lie to Gianluca Vialli's theory in his excellent book contrasting English and Italian clubs: English clubs may be occasionally homely (as Norwich can sometimes feel, of course), but they can be bloody painful, divisive and gutwrenching to support too.
