Truth is most clubs in the world lose money. Real Madrid had to sell their training ground in the city centre not so long ago to make ends meet. Chelsea are somewhere around 4-500 million in debt - perhaps more (Abramovivh is not stupid enough to chuck money at them - it's all in the form of loans from a murky offshore holding company).
And in any case the majority of income no longer comes from ticket sales, but from TV. And there's not much TV money outside the Prem. And in the Prem all it's served to do is inflate wages nearly beyond the means of most clubs.
