Two games of football yesterday

I had the privilege and pain of watching two games of football yesterday.

The first match in the morning that I refereed was a 7 aside game played on a pitch that was not very good and the weather was cold and wet. My team won 4-3 after being 3 - 1 down with 5 minutes to go and with the winner being scored in the last minute . The effort and commitment of both teams was fantastic. It was a game of end to end play, crunching tackles , blood sweat and tears ( literally ) played in a fine spirit.

The secong game in the afternoon I went to see a game of professional football that was as exciting as watching paint dry. Sustained attacking play, passion and commitment were non existant. My team scored an undeserved first goal and the other team equalised in the last minute of the game.

The only similarity to the two games was that each contained a last minute goal.

One game was played by a group of 8 to 10 year old football loving cubs in front of maybe 20 proud parents. The second game was played by a bunch of overpaid professional footballers in front of 24000 paying customers who came to the game to be excited ,entertained ( at considerable expense) and hopefully to see their team win.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it PG. I saw passion and commitment in only one game yeaterday. Your post match comments were both inaccurate and completely out of order.
