I'm trying to find information about an experiment...
... whereby a group of monkeys were kept, and when one of them did something, the group were punished somehow (probably inhumanely)... eventually the other monkeys got pissed off and would attack any monkey who was about to do whatever it was that would incur the punishment.
Then they took one monkey out, and put a new one in, and it behaved the same way as the ones already in there, i.e. it would attack any monkey who performed the "forbidden" action.
They continued this process until none of the monkeys remaining were in the original group, but they all still attacked any monkey who would perform that same action - even though none of them had ever seen the punishment.
Does anyone have any more information... I tried googling it but no joy.
Cheers
