What's the anti-spyware that's being recommended?

It's could be spyware (or worse) itself - they invent spurious, unspecified "critical errors" and then expect you to shell out for something that at best will be useless. A quick Google or shufty at a reputable spyware/AV site should confirm or deny. Anyway, blindasabat's advice is very good.
