I agree, Grant's selection and tactics were poor...

...but he MUST be allowed to experiment. It's early days and we're in with a shout. If he feels he needs to change the system to find out that it doesn't work then so be it. If he picks the same again that he picked today, a fool he is, but I appreciate the ideas.

Again, Grant is finding his feet, trying to make the most out of an abysmal legacy left behind by Worthington's and the board's mistakes over the last three years. For the most part, Grant has been a success. Once or twice, he has seemed completely inept. But that is what needs to be done. The limited talents of Docherty, Hughes and Robinson especially are being exposed under Grant's management more than ever, and it would take a fool not to act on them. It's bound to get worse before it gets better, but for the most part, I've seen things are looking up. Grant knows what the team can acheive, he is slowly discovering what he needs to do to acheive this.

We have a poor team. This is down to the player's work ethic. We have a poor youth system. This was Worthington's fault, but he is gone. So the blame must pass to the board for this, who have admitted that action needed to be taken. Grant is taking risks, as he should be and is making mistakes, as he inevitably will. Everyone's quick to judge Grant on this though, which is sad because I still trust that Grant will act on what he finds through trial and error in a way in which Worthington never would have.

We're all absolutely right to criticise players, tactics and performances, but we seem to want the changes without wanting the risk-taking that goes with it. We can't have our cake AND eat it though.
