But that does not explain what happened to the rest of the team. He is not to blame for Robinson and Hughes being absolutely shocking.
We need to wait until at least after the transfer window closes in January to assess Grant though. I have much more confidence that he will learn from his mistakes than Worthington.
As much as it was an error to bring Doherty back in, he has a right to expect that professional footballers will be just that, and do their jobs - which is not to pull shirts, not tackle and pass to opposition players.
Hopefully this might finally herald the arrival of some of the youngsters in the team and clear out some of these senior 'pros', who just aren't up to it.
