Theoretically, I'd agree
About the only thing that can go wrong on an LCD is the backlight, although I don't know how easy they are to replace. From what I can gather, LCD & plasma are claiming about the same life span these days - around 60000 hours - but it's hard to see how plasma can get that much better and it seems one has to nurse plasma's to get that much life out of them.
Will obviously have to do more research ...
