Otherwise Grant revealed that he would be looking to extend Ashdown's loan spell in Norfolk - albeit the Pompey keeper finds himself playing second fiddle to Gallacher right now - plus he will also be offering a new deal to team skipper Adam Drury.
The long-serving left-back had, it appeared, feared that the arrival of Dublin in the heart of the City back four might find Grant looking to change his on-field leader and hand the armband elsewhere. Quite the reverse was the case.
"Adam came to see me and he thought I was going to take the captaincy off him - but I was going to offer him a new contract."
And how long would that contract be? "As long as he wants," laughed Grant, giving his full-back a big boost ahead of this weekend's trip to the Midlands.
