"The Doherty Experiment"

Well done, PG. We can all now see, evidentially, that Doherty is no midfield player. Good to see it confirmed. There may be some of our number that would have been confident of that prediction without seeing his performance in that position, but now you've removed all doubt.

The only doubt that remains now, is why anyone on earth who has seen Doherty play would ever ever think him capable of a holding/central midfield role. He is not and has never been a ball player. He's a hoofer. A header, a tackler and a hoofer. And he's good at that. Immense in the air, mostly, but slow, and not a good passer. What out of that says "midfielder"? None of it.

But, still, lesson learnt, we all know now. Move on.
