Just got back. Wish I hadn't bothered going...
just like some who played in the yellow and green this afternoon.
Thankfully we left at 4-0, so spared the last one... but today was a complete and utter shambles from beginning to end.
Not only is our squad numbers woefully lightweight, but so are too many members of that squad. Today was an absolute shocker. No real desire, passion or energy. Next to nobody on that pitch looked as though they were bothered today. What an absolute disgrace.
Stoke were looking as ordinary as Cardiff early on, not even at the races. Their first real attack and they score. Their second before HT was a gift. Once again our defence act like fannies when the ball's loose in the box, and surprise surprise, it's one of their men that gets there first.
After that there was no going back. We were soft as s**te. Didn't chase the ball, didn't really want the ball. And we didn't even get a decent effort anyway near target all afternoon.
Ashdown looked more flappy than Marshall... why the feck Gallagher was dropped again after Tuesday, I don't know. Hopefully that's the last we've seen of him now.
Doherty totally and utterly lost in his midfield roll. Supposed to be the holding player and yet too often slipped back to make it 5 across the back. When he did drop into defence after Flem's sub, he resorted to hacking them down and giving away free kicks. Not good enough.
Robinson once again strolling round the pitch and coasting through the game. He made one decent tackle in the first 20 seconds... a few passes found their man... but rather than run on in support of Croft, just started walking in the other fecking direction. Not good enough.
Hughes is no forward man. I know needs must, but oh dear not Hughes.
Colin's positional sense is still very suspect.
Shacks, Flem, Drury, Thorne all very very ordinary.
Etuhu lots of running and some effort, but guilty of giving the ball away too often, and not always applying himself 100%. There was a ball second half where he made a diagonal run across the middle towards the edge of the penalty area and was put through... but he was beaten to the ball by one of their defender's in the last five yards. Not good enough.
Eagle impressed when he came on, but too eager to get the ball in the centre from long distance, rather than use space or get closer before crossing. Will come with experience and confidence.
Dion tried, and can't be faulted for lack of effort but there was no real service for him all afternoon. He never got a look in.
Crofty was my man of the match. Ran and ran and ran up and down the right all afternoon. wasn't always able to deliver as he was tightly man-marked, but given no support or options. Robinson where the f**k were you???? Having a Saturday afternoon sight-seeing stroll in the Potteries, that's where.
Granty has a huge huge job ahead. He's a lot of crap to clear out come January. What I think is worrying is that after less that half a dozen games in charge, the players can't even be arsed for him either. Worse still, the players once again can't be arsed for us, the paying supporter.
Sadly not for the firs time this season, disgraceful and unacceptable today.
