My neighbour played for Brondby and is always

going on about the fact that in his opinion even the Danish league is more technical than English players. No idea why given the influx of Johnny Foreigner. Dutch CBs have always been footballers as well though - Stam, Koeman (both of them) and Reiziger were other CBs who successfully switched to FB or midfield.

I once saw Feyenoord vs Ajax u-10s before the senior game. What amazed me was they were playing on a full size pitch and neither team ball-chased. They ALL kept their shape the whole way through.
