I spoke to Peter about that, and he just said:

"Oh, Old Git plays everything down on that horrible website. If his cool Internet friends find out we're together he could lose their respect, and we might both get bullied.

"I noticed that Gus Poyet 26, or Pants or whatever he likes to be called, has liked me right from the start. It just makes it even stranger that he doesn't want to see me. I stood at the back of that Soup Dragons gig just watching and he didn't even say hello.

"Why does nobody return my calls? I used to be somebody!"

Whereupon he grabbed me and started shaking me in floods of hysterical tears. All I could say was, "I'd really like to want to help you, Thorney (when I feel sorry for someone I give them a Ron Atkinson-style nickname) but the truth is, I think you're rubbish." Then I walked off, slightly saddened but ultimately unperturbed.
