That was the gist of it
Essentially it all happened as a result of a massacre of a village when the British had insisted that all arms were kpet centrally in an arsenal (spit) and then one night the forces took the arms and killed all the civilians. Thats the way it has been told to me anyway.
I can never see that part being challenged in the consitution but there may well be increased background checks. When I bought my guns there was little in the way of checks and even less concern, bt that was pre 9/11
The 2nd ammendment actually says
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed
Read into that what you want.
