The Wet Sham view

Alan Pardew has paid a glowing farewell tribute to his assistant manager Peter Grant, who is set to be named as the new manager of Norwich City this weekend.

The former Scottish international, who has spent almost three years at Upton Park as right-hand man to the Hammers boss, is currently finalising terms at Carrow Road, and Pards has only words of praise for his departing colleague.

"Peter has been the best assistant manager you could possibly wish for," he says. "He has been loyal, intelligent and has a great work ethic. He will bring those qualities to Norwich and I truly believe will be a massive success there.

"I think everybody at West Ham will join me in wishing him all the luck in the world, we are certainly going to miss him and we send him off with our best regards and certainly on my side, I would just like to say thank you to a gentleman and a top person."

Meanwhile, captain Nigel Reo-Coker has spoken on behalf of the players, admitting that the Hammers squad will be sorry to the popular Glaswegian leave.

"He will be massively missed and is a big loss to the Club but I, along with all the players, wish him all the best at Norwich," says Nigel.

"He has got to make the right moves for himself and this was a fantastic opportunity he couldn't turn down."
