It wasn't a summation, it was a question.
As you say, there are a number of people for whom it HAS got personal. The question was put up in order to gauge the depth of this.
Whilst they will never admit it, the fact that this obsession over Worthington has affected their lives to such an extent they need to personally abuse the man, says (to me) volumes. People like that don't turn into sweetness and light overnight.
Given the unlikelihood that we won't get Curbishley, I fully expect these people to turn on the board next moaning about a lack of ambition over the next manager.
