If I were advising Norwich on sacking Worthy, I'd tell them not to pay him the mill

Claim repudiatory breach of the contract so that the club isn't bound to honour the payment terms, or gross misconduct (ditto). Let him sue and then negotiate a lower pay off. Would be good for cash flow too.
