Not a year, six months...

Curbishley Interview with 4-4-2

What have you done with your time off?
I've been busy! I've done the World Cup for ITV, which I enjoyed. I've got my book coming out. And I've taken my first holiday in August for 32 years - I went to Spain. For 32 years I've been either playing or managing, so that was nice! I'm going to New Zealand for a month in September to see my sister, too.

Sounds relaxing. You might get used to the idle life...
No, I'll be back. I promised myself six months off, and I'm taking them. A lot of people ask me what retirement is like. I haven't retired, I just wanted a break! In any other high profile business, people take sabbaticals. After 32 years straight, I needed a rest. The problem with being a Premiership manager is that one season blends in with the next. Your holidays are totally interrupted. I'm not complaining though: it's such a fantastic job.
