A number of possibilities present themselves...
...but one you could try would be to use User Posted Link to find out what time the train leaves. When at Shenfield, look at the little TV screens and match that time with a platform using the craftily encoded displays.
Alternatively, there are usually flunkies available at stations. Make sure you ask which platform BEFORE pointing out he looks a right t**t in his stupid orange overalls, though.
