but to claim that the term pickey is a racist slur is just wrong. Pikey's do exist, there are nasty groups of travellers who survive on selling anything for scrap. They follow nearly all of the generallisations that people give them. Dogs on ropes, hare coursing setting fire to stuff. The ones I have met know only one way to comunicate and it that is through violence or threats of violence. Obviously not all travellers or gypsies are pikey's but if you call a pikey, "pikey" that isn't offensive.
