what the hell has it got to do with the FA?????

this is the League. And why (assuming you meant the League) would they support a solution that would give one team an advantage over its rivals by having 24 home games and 22 away games???? A Cup match doesn't affect any other teams, but league matches do, so the situation is totally different.
