Mckenzie, Worthy & bristol
So, all the waiting and expectation is over. Mckenzie has gone and no one has come in. We were told that Nigel held out for 2/3 weeks for the offer he wanted for Mckenzie. I must admit I thought maybe Coventry had offered say ?500k and Worthy wanted ?1.2m, so he was waiting for coventry to up their bid. Now we discover that this acceptable bid is worth ?600k plus up to ?400k which includes, appearances ( how long out injured was he last year?)and Coventry gaining promotion ? hardy likely is it? because Worthy held out for this rather pathetic offer we have lost out on a very promising youngster. Had Worthy accepted a lower bid two days earlier and got rid of Mckenzie (and we all know he was never going to be part of the club again knowing how worth holds grudges) he could have signed this chap from Bristol before Wigan even knew he existed.
But of course one of the usual excuses is trotted out. It certainly cannot be money.
Think what has happened in 2006:
Ashton sold ? the profit buys Earnie, and surely Earnie?s wages won?t be higher than Ashtons?
Green sold, Croft bought in surely Crofts wages are less than Greens.
3 First teamers left and 3 trainees signed, again the new wages will be less than the previous players.
So why don?t we seem to have any money. Surely it cannot be that we needed say an extra ?100k or ?200k from Mckenzie?s sale to finance the ?2m purchase from Bristol?
However, I wonder why Worthy wanted such a player, he continually tells us that our 18/19/20 year olds aren?t good enough for the first team.
Maybe we could find Ryan Jarvis ,I seem to remember him being quite good.
Anywa why Ban Mckenzie from playing agains us, he aint as good as Shacekll!
