Worthington

I was having a drink with Roger Munby before the Derby game and he told me that Worthington has admitted that he made a fair few errors in the transfer market last season and that scouting etc could have been better. He also agreed that money had been wasted on unnecessary signings and agreed what happened to Rehman was pointless.

I think, that based on what we've seen so far this season, Worthington has learnt his lesson. However, I don't thing he should be totally forgiven just yet; he made a plethora of inexcusable decisions which could have had a profound effect on the long term future of Norwich City. He spent ?500k on Andy Hughes, a 3rd choice at what was considered an average Championship side and got what he deserved for that. I also feel that Hughes' days at this football are numbered. His current status, no league appearances and an average-at-best performance against Torquay show this. I don't think the wounds caused by his comments to the media about the fans are going to heal quickly as well.

I am delighted with the start we've made to this season and if we go up, I'll be in heaven. I'll also be delighted for Nigel Worthington (and Martin Hunter :D ), however, I'll still feel that Worthington isn't the man to take this club forward in the Premiership.
