Derby/Leon thoughts
All in all a game we probably would have lost last year turned into a game we really should have won so again all in all was pretty promising.
We started well but then had a very iffy 20 minute period where I thought we played just like last season and were on the verge of conceding at any time. Having said that we did restrict them to long range efforts other than when they hit the bar when gallagher (good shot stopper but too small) got outjumped by the donkey that is Steve Howard just as he did against newcastle only for the goal to be disallowed.
Second half though was much, much better and we really should have won by two or three. In my opinion our upturn in fortunes coincided with Etuhu getting onto the ball (which he didn't in the first half at all) and Robinson also improving markedly. On several occasions thought Earny was just going to lash it home but he inexplicably tried to side step his man and then mishit or sliced his shots. On other occasions we were let down by the decision making at the final ball stage where Hucks/earnie shot when we had 3 men unmarked in the middle or passed it when they should have shot!
Thought lee Croft was excellent once again. The problem is he's knackered after 70 minutes and when he goes off we lose our threat.
Thought Drury was decent going forward but again a bit iffy defensively and once again we got caught on the break badly when they broke after he took free kicks and corners and then just ambled back as if he didn't have a care in the world. I was pleased to see they stopped him taking them at the end of the first half.
Derby are not bad - will probably be top ten but they are nothing special and we could and should have won but a point is not a bad result. My only other annoyance was that Worthy clearly settled for a point after about 80 minutes as we had a free kick and instead of building on the momentum he came out with the watr bottles and clearly told them to kill the game - annoyingly negative once again from our esteemed manager.
Finally does anyone know who the two slappers are who travel on club canary and at every away game seem to get into soem sort of altercation with the stewards/our fans/rival fans. Seem to think they can get away with being gobby little cows just because they are women and nobody will beat them up. Frankly they need a good slapping as they are an embarrassment!
As for Leon - sad to see it come to this but if we get any half decent offer i would sell and use the money with the greeno money to try and get either mcleod or eastwood.
