I too was a punk/indie purist

But gradually broadened my horizons after reading The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test and got into psychedelia and the revival of that in the early 80s (did anyone else do the Doctor & The Medics mystery trips?) and then the Aciiiid dance music thing and Madchester followed on naturally.

I never was much of a fan of The Damned or The Stranglers apart from the odd track. SLF, though - now there was a great, great band. In fact, Inflammable Material is on now to drown out George Michael wafting through the windows from some unidentified party down the street.
