I Must be Thick

For the life of me I don't get it. Everyone on here seems to want a partner for Ernie. This means one less in midfield to stop the other team. I'm assuming Hucks still rarely plays defense. So when the other team has the ball won't we be back to being overun in midfield? Is Worthy becoming Keegan and wanting to outscore the opposition? Please educate me but I don't see why people want to change what's working.
