To a point....

Higher Education is being devalued by the government's ridiculous notion that 50% of people need to gain a degree.

This has led to people who are not suited to that style of study taking courses which aren't worthy of the degree status they have been awarded, and then in turn employers having to spot this at a later date.

This has led to 'proper' (for want of a better word) degrees being partly devalued, as people have to argue that their degree is worthwhile, or take a further qualification (masters etc) to stand out as a worthy employee.

This notion has also led in turn to more people being awarded A levels, as the government seeks to fill courses that aren't actually worth their salt
