...now, on the theme of asking others since apparently I know f**k all, ask Ben how much money you earn from advertising on a website especially if your site is aimed specifically at a limited audience with a critical mass likely to be achieved within 18 months.

Compare that to newspaper advertising revenue.

Then work out how many 3 quid subscriptions would be needed to pay your mortgage. And that's the very simple version without taking into account overhead, royalties, etc.
