Taylor was actually a bit unlucky

he was sacked for not getting us to the 94 World Cup but we were (genuinely, not the feeble excuses from the last 2 major tournaments) robbed by refereeing in both qualifiers against the Dutch. And he didn't have much talent to pick from at the time. The 90 team was pretty much gone and there wasn't much new talent about. He obviously wasn't great but he was dealt a tough hand.
