that's one of the biggest myths ever about uni lecturers. The fact is that our marking is very closely supervised, and so it would be professional suicide to mark someone down because we don't like them. This would be all the more so in this case. If you did ask for your paper to be remarked, and the university agreed, then whoever did it would have to provide lock solid criteria for either raising-or lowering-your mark.

If your uni is like the one that I work at, then those within 1% of the upper grade limit are considered for the higher classification on things like number of modules in which the higher classification was achieved and something called "exit velocity" (e.g. are this year's marks better than last year's). You could check to see if these matters were considered.

It's worth asking. But mate, be aware that the line does have to be drawn somewhere, so there are always people in your situation. i know that doesn't help cos it sucks that that person is you. But, have a go and be assured that your case will be treated fairly. All that stuff about vindicitive lecturers is largely BS.
