You have to look at it from svens viewpoint though

It was only half way through this world cup that the majority of fans decided lampard and gerrard don't work together

The biggest butt of all jokes was Hargreaves too

If you are sven you know the media hang on the end of majority opinions cos that's how they sell papers and keep viewers

On top of that you have player power, Lampard and Gerrard both know with all the support behind them, they weren't going to get dropped, that is until Lampard was crap and the bandwagon shifted from hating Hargreaves to loving him and Lampard was the villain

I'm not saying if we left sven alone he would totally have done it any better, but he was pretty much forced into some positional tactics, and then when it doesn't work, he gets the brunt

For me I wouldn't have played Beckham but that still is a vastly held view that without Beckham england would be no where in games. Something I don't agree at all. If England just wanted a dead ball specialist who does nothing else, they should have got Le Tissier out of retirement

Sven proved himself in Italy, and still has those qualities, he just stayed in a job too long, a job that fans, and the media forced him into cos of the Chelsea speculation
