Mo Toure opens up on summer speculation and City form
--------------------------------------------------------------
Mo Toure has revealed his agent was contacted by clubs interested in signing him this summer, but insists he is happy at Norwich City amid his remarkable goalscoring form.
It has been an incredible start to life in England since his February switch from Randers, with Toure registering 18 goal involvements in as many appearances for the Canaries.
That form inevitably attracted interest, with Turkish side Trabzonspor among the clubs linked with a move during the summer window before it closed at the start of this month.
Toure has now confirmed there was substance to reports linking clubs with a move for him, but insists his happiness at Norwich meant any failed approaches had little impact.
“With transfers and stuff, I was very happy at Norwich to be honest, and I’m still happy at Norwich. So I feel like those things not going through really didn’t affect me in any way.
“There were some truths, some teams actually wanted me or contacted my agent," the City striker told Australian outlet Football360.
“But at the end the day, I was very happy here. And I feel like if they want me now, they can wait another year or another six months. And I just had to continue doing what I’m doing. So that was pretty much my mindset.
“Them showing interest, I knew I was doing something right. So I just wanted to continue doing what I was doing.”
Toure's rise has not gone unnoticed beyond Norfolk, but the Australian credits much of his development to working under Philippe Clement, who he believes has taken his finishing to the next level.
"He said, ‘Mo, I see you take a lot of wild shots. You just put your foot through the ball,’” Toure said.
“He says, ‘Sometimes you score, but look at how many times you miss or how many times it comes off a defender. When you come here, you have to put the balls in the corner.’
“I could score a screamer at training and I’m celebrating, and he’ll come and touch me and be like, ‘Mo, it wasn’t in the corner. I said, ‘Come on, bro.’ But the more I’ve worked with him, I understand what he means. He always says, ‘Just put it in the corner and the keeper has no chance.’
“I don’t want a coach to just stop telling you what to do after you’re doing well. I want him to be even harder when you’re doing well and make you realise that you haven’t done much yet, and you can always improve and get better.”
