Belgium v Senegal. What can you say? Truly ridiculous football match, Senegal should have been out of sight, 2-0 with minutes to go and threw it away. Lukaku scored from nowhere and suddenly the pressure ramped up, dodgy keeper coming out for a cross and missed it, Andy Marshall style (chat gpt can't write that Dukey), 2-2.
Extra time rubbish as ever (scrap it), until a last minute cross into the box that Tielemans was not getting and a risky challenge for the ball resulted in them both falling over, penalty given after lengthy VAR. It's one of those. Would be angry if it was given against my team and would be angry if it wasn't given for my team.
It looked like Senegal might do a dirty protest but the worst that happened was one of their players lay on the penalty spot. Praying or crying. Who knows? 3-2. Over to the USA.
USA 2-0 Bosnia (correctly predicted by me, God I'm good). Fairly boring, don't bother with highlights unless you are a proper football fan. Bosnia offered nothing, Dzeko got injured and after that they were absolutely Finnish, despite playing against 10 men for a big chunk of the second half. The red card was, in my view, ridiculous. Football is a contact sport and sometimes incidents look 100x worse in slow motion. The striker jumped for the ball and came down on the defenders ankle, it looked horrid but unintentional and now his world cup is over.
