I think if anything "got" to the German players...

it was not the pressure but simply the fact that Italy had better players who (unlike Argentina's in the previous round) turned up ready to play. Didn't notice any intent on Lehmann's part - its not in his nature to pull out but I don't see how he could have cleared that ball without going into the player afterwards. The Ballack playacting thing was ridiculous though.
