a lot of youngsters get played out of position

It's just part and parcel of trying to make it as a pro. You have to take every chance you get, and if the guy in your posiiton never gets injured or has a dramatic loss of form, unless you play somewhere else, you're never going to get in the first team.

I used to play football with this lad at Palace, he was a 6foot + left winger, had been his whole life. Ended up playing left back in the first team at Palace, and was then turned into a centre back. If he hadn't, he would never have made it. Just part and parcel of the game.
