Whether Walcott could have done the necessary job, I just don't know, but then I'm pretty certain that Eriksson didn't know either.

Had we had another striker than Walcott then, yes, that would have been a good plan; but then he'd almost certainly have played two from the start.

Going three at the back might also have been an option.

I fear though, that Eriksson thought after the sending off that he'd take a risk on penalties
