Don’t get me wrong. Good player on his day, even very very good, and a committed loyal servant. Good pro despite my fears when I first saw the MD 20/20 thing! Any team would want him. He can fill in at CB or fullback, can play deeper or more advanced. Might even potentially be able to play wide (think Mattsson and field or wright centrally and Kenny further forward).

But if we list out best midfielders of the last 40 years I don’t think anybody will have him in the top 10.
