Norwich City can confirm that Josh Sargent has completed a permanent transfer to Toronto FC for an undisclosed fee.

Sargent joins the Canadian-based side following four-and-a-half years at Norwich City. He joined the club in the summer of 2021 from German side Werder Bremen, and would go on to make 157 appearances in all competitions, scoring 56 goals.

He was crowned the winner of the club’s player of the season award following the 2024/25 season, during which he was also named in the EFL Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season.

Sargent will now take the next steps in his career with Toronto, who opened their MLS season with a 3-2 defeat away at FC Dallas over the weekend.

Sporting director Ben Knapper said: “Josh has been clear with us for some time about his desire to leave. In finalising this transfer at this stage, we believe we have secured the best possible deal for the club.

“We can now all move forward with a sense of clarity, fully focused on the remainder of our season.

“Regardless of the manner of his departure, Josh has been a significant part of the club's recent story, contributing greatly and captaining the team on many occasions. He now moves on and we wish him well for his next step, and for his future beyond.”

All at Norwich City thank Josh for his contributions to the club and wish him well in the next stage of his career.
