I'd love us to buy say a Cameron Jerome, but he costs ?3 million. The younger they are, the more they cost. And it is evident we appear to either have bugger all money to spend on transfers, or the true transfer budget has been brilliantly concealed....

And as for the argument of decent but old (but not too old), Blackburn went for Kuki, he was decent, not young mind - played him up the top alongside a pacey player like Bellamy - and they finished 6th or 7th in the Premiership.
