Today I learned a new word - vomitory
A vomitory is an access route or passage built into the gradient of a stadium, amphitheater, or theater stand that links the seating areas to the concourses or exit routes.
Function: They are designed to facilitate the rapid and safe movement of large crowds entering, exiting, or evacuating a venue, preventing congestion.
Origin: The word comes from the Latin vomitorium, referring to the openings through which crowds "discharged" themselves into the seating areas in Roman times.
