One thing I will say about the Ashes, was a huge call to retire Jimmy

I can/could see the logic, and they've been a little unlucky with injuries since then, however you could also argue that Wood especially can't (sadly) be relied on to be fit when needed or for a full series.

There was sense in looking to plan for the Ashes in advance try and get a settled attack in place, but they haven't managed that.

Jimmy wasn't the threat in Oz that he is elsewhere, but he does have control, even more so in recent years.

Jimmy going at under 3 at one end would have created more pressure for Archer to attack at the other.

Hindsight is 20/20 and all that but its going to have to be considered a mistake that Jimmy isn't there I think.
