also possible that the defender catches him in the penalty area, giving us a pen and then a red card.

But I think anybody second guessing him hasn’t ever played a decent level of sport. He was very active for 96 minutes and he’s trying to outrun a defender for more than half the pitch and then trying to finish. A lot of players in that position would have just lost the ball before they got to the shot. Got us a corner.
