Maybe we could have had him one or two weeks earlier but not much. If we'd fired Manning too soon then we could well have ended up with a far worse manager than PC appears to be.
And also don't forget if we had gone as far as paying compensation for Manning and then fired him without giving him that run of chances, PC may not have wanted to come. He has come in this time knowing that in all likelihood when we hit a rough patch (which we will with this squad), that he will be given the time to work through it.
I get the feeling he is confident in his ability to fix it mid term, and excited about long term potential, but realistic about short term impact.
