I actually wouldn’t wish 15 yrs of the doldrums on any group of fans. Although Lg1 is a tar pit and it’s best avoided in case you get stuck there, the last few seasons there weren’t even as bad as the decade-long drain circling that preceded it.

Obviously Clement has an immediate job and then hopefully a longer term job. I even listened to Attanasio on Radio Norfolk, and while at the time his long-term approach must have been worrying, I’d say you’re better off with that than someone who hopes to get quick success with a new toy.

In that regard he’s no Evans, and be glad of that. He faced the music when Knapper seems unwilling to, whereas we literally didn’t even know what Evans looked like for 7 years.
