Today I visited my great grandfather’s grave for only the second time in my 55 years. A beautiful Welsh mining village near Neath. He died at 36 of lung disease (caused by coal dust). My then 13 year old grandfather was left as the breadwinner. He joined the same mine knowing well his fate. Thankfully he made the decision to join the army. In 1938…. He lived a grand life. I can’t Help feeling a bit of a fraud today. Football is not in my thoughts tonight….
