I missed the wotb reaction yesterday

I rather thought that the Ecuador game was OK.

I reckon the selection was fairly canny; Hargreaves was miles better the Carragher at right back (though it didn't improve Beckham's play, which was probably the point -- has Becks forgotten that moving forwards is occasionally an idea in football?), Carrick at least introduced the beginnings of a short passing game, and Cole, Ferdinand and Rooney looked good.

OK, it wasn't world destroying and you've got to be worried about the lack of chances created, but I thought it was our best performance so far.

We have to have a chance against a depleted Portugal (nb I'd expect Ronaldo to recover from a dead leg by the weekend).
