Haven’t been on here much recently but my thoughts from afar
1) Seems like our club executive structure needs a review. Example being who do Knapper and Webber report to daily at the club? Or is it purely phone calls to Norfolk holdings at that point. Sounds like we need to sort it out.
2) What support structures are there for Knapper, in terms of experienced sporting execs? This is his first Sporting Director role so he’s gonna make a lot of mistakes, but what do we have supporting him in terms of experience and support networks to lean on? We’ve not made one single transfer under Knapper that I think we would be able to sell on at a good profit at this point in time or the future. Given that is our publicised strategy, I’m concerned (Jim levels).
3)Haven’t seen that much of us this season but the players look like they are always playing safe balls, nobody risking forward passes for Sarge to run onto etc. How much of that I wonder is player ownership of their roles or coaching? Probably bit of both?
4) Kenny’s interview the other night, Darling the game before, suggests that the playing staff are divided, lack of trust in each other to perform. Again how much of this is coaching? How much is just the shear volume of change and players not yet up to speed in both championship intensity and quality.
5) Injuries continue. I don’t really buy the argument that it’s due to something internal related to sports science/coaching. It’s happened across multiple coaches for a few years now. I wonder how much of it comes down to simply our recruitment policy of taking on players with known injury records, relatively cheaply which we have repeatedly done for years now.
6) Manning. I feel for the guy, I like him and I think he’s got talent but for whatever reason something is not working with him at NCFC. Maybe wrong club, wrong time for him? I’m not sure how long it continues or how bad it has to get?
